The artist arpegius1997 is a popular artist on deviant but there is a catch... Most of her works are redraws of other artists artwork. Even though Arpeguis credits the original artist, it's still copying since she literally is redrawing the picture in a different media. If she took someone's work and made a entirely new artwork then it would be appropriation, but arpegius is just taking other people's artwork and redoing it in colored pencil.
I'm not sure whether arpegius get permission from the artists or not, but at least she does give a link to the original piece. Not all her works are redraws, but when it isn't it makes me question whether she came up with the artwork herself, or if she copied it without crediting anyone, since the majority of her works are copied from something.
Arpegius is a talented artist (don't get me wrong), but she makes me question her arts originality and creativity.
So is this plagiarism, appropriation, or is it nothing at all?

a deviantart journal going over art theft, plagiarism, etc: What *Is* Art Plagiarism? (READ THIS)Okay, due to some flaming I've received because I brought art plagiarism to the attention of an art plagiarist... I've realized that there is more than a good number of people who don't know what art plagiarism really is--so, I've written an informative journal for you all. It's broken down into several easy to understand sections.

Hopefully, if my journal's not enough to understand the meaning of art plagiarism, then the tutorial will be (or vice versa, maybe my journal will help you understand the tutorial more). :p
